Inspiration comes in many shapes and sizes – from magazines, colors, patterns, landscapes. Tearing out images from magazines, printing off websites, taking pictures of inspiring visions are great ways to inspire ideas. Most of the time the image is fleeting, but when you put them all in a book they begin to tell a story.
The picture above featuring a fantastic kitchen is from one of my favorite magazines, Living etc. The mixing of old with new and white with wood is so fresh. The color palette and textures could morph into a great line of furniture.
Growing up my best friend was Susie Abrams. She is still my best friend today, but her name is Susie Minkowitz. When she met her husband Steve, I made so much fun of her. I teased her endlessly about how horrible the name Minkowitz was. Someone got me back, because when I met Dan in business school and heard his last name was JURKOWITZ – I almost choked. I didn’t think I could date this guy solely because of his name – and worse off, I could never introduce Susie to him. Needless to say, Dan and I were married and 21 years later, I am still getting it from Susie about how true the saying is “what comes around, goes around”!!
When thinking of the name for our new marketing and communications firm, many names were brought up -cute names, serious names, fun names – but the bottom line was the most unique of all names was JURKOWITZ & CO. Imagine finding a name that comes up first on a GOOGLE search without even trying!!
Take a look at the new site. It was designed by thingsthatarebrown, a company run by an incredibly talented husband/wife team.
It is really exciting to launch JURKOWITZ & CO – we love turning great ideas into businesses and re-inventing and re-launching exciting brands.
